Confronted with the international competition, Polish industry is confronted with successive waves of painful reorganization. The traditional sectors of industry which are the goods of equipment, the energy, the construction, the metallurgy or chemistry are so touched, that they contribute only with the quarter of the national GDP. The coal, whose exports compensate of the oil imports, remains the base of Polish industry. The country has also rich resources of copper, zinc, lead, natural gas and sulphur.

The foreign investors allowed the reorganizations of the light industry (consumer goods, agro-alimentary, textile...) and especially in the car industry, benefitting from a national automobile park multiplied by five in ten years. The growth potential is also notable in electronics and telecommunications. In the years to come, opportunities are noted in the sector of environment, mechanics, strong development of the shipyards in Szczecin and especially in Gdynia, first European shipyard, in the restoration of the railway sector and especially in the construction industry. The needs are considerable, as well for the level of the infrastructure of transport as for the real estate of dwelling and the great industrial and commercial complexes.
