General data on consumption and consumers

A purchasing power difficult to estimate

Poland counts 12,5 million households, of which two thirds live in the urban zones. 25 % of couples do not have children, this urban tendency is beginning extending from now in the rural zones.

With a GDP per capita in power purchasing parity of 9500 USD per capita, Poland is located at the 5th world row, behind the Czech, Polish and Hungarian neighbors, . This amount represents approximately 39 % of the average in the European Convention countries, but it has increased considerably in ten last years.

The average wages is about 400 euros net (double in Warsaw) which would theoretically not make possible for population to live normally , but the other sources of income significant are often not declared (employment in black, not declared location). In addition, the Poles are handymen, able to build a house or to repair an electronic instrument without big budget.

A rate of equipment in rise

The rate of equipment of the Poles progressed much in the years 1990, the strong growth encouraged the households to project themself in the future. This movement should be prolonged thanks to the access to the credit strongly developed these last years. In 2002, one car of two was bought with the credit, just as one electronic instrument of three.

The food continues to constitute more of one third of the outlay of the Polish households, this rate is even higher at the time of the festivals of Christmas or Easter.
