Poland is a country famous for the cheap purchases, which attract
thousands of visitors coming from the neighbour countries. Thus
the bazars of Tuszyn, Rzgow and Gluchow attract customers of
Germany, Czech Republic and CIS while Bialystok is an appreciated
destination for Ukrainian, Belarussian and Russian purchasers.
The amber and the jewels are searched out by the tourists, just
as leather, wood and embroideries. The open air markets and
the galleries offer opportunities for antique and other kinds
of purchases.
In general, offices are open from 8. 30 to 15.30 during theweek
and the stores from 9 to 17 or 18 in week and to 14 H saturdays.
However, the schedules of opening tend to lengthen in large
cities, in particular during the week-end.
The stamps are bought in the kiosks (Ruch) or at the Post
office. The cigarettes can be found in many places: kiosks,
supermarkets and other stores, coffees and pubs, hotels... However,
it is generally prohibited to smoke in the public areas.
The public telephone booths work with cards which can be bought
in post offices, kiosks or hotels. To call in the same city,
one simply needs to dial the number of the correspondent. To
telephone in another Polish city, one needs to dial the code
of the city (22 for Warsaw). From abroad, it is necessary to
dial 00 48 then the code of the city and the phone number of
the correspondent.
